  • Welcome!

Hello! I am so glad that you're here. Welcome to my blog. My little corner of the world where I share my work and my life.
I believe in love. I believe in being present for your life. I believe in romance and love that lasts a lifetime. I believe that Starbucks should offer Toasted Graham Lattes all year. I believe my daughter is amazing. I believe in Tuesday night date nights with my dad. I believe there isn't much that prayer, a good workout or a cheeseburger can't fix. I believe that dresses and skirts with pockets are the best ever. I believe in being friends with my brides. I believe all dogs go to Heaven. I believe in having Thanksgiving dinner more than once a year. I believe in jumping up and down when I love an image I see on the back of my camera.
I believe that every couple has a love story. ...I can't believe I am lucky enough to tell them.

Tuesday Top 5: Top 5 Songs for Ava

I swear this is true…

I love music and I can relate almost any situation in life to a song and vice versa.  I especially like relating people to songs, so today’s Tuesday Top 5 is all about my favorite person…Ava!

Here are my Top 5 Songs for Ava:

5.  Fix You by Coldplay

I took some weird course in college that required us to make a playlist and a book about songs that we related to our loved ones.  I was pregnant with Ava at the time and this song made me think of how I would feel when she grew up and felt sad.  I thought about the mom that I wanted to be and the relationship I hope we would have.

4.  You Are My Sunshine by Johnny Cash

Ava was never a good sleeper…like ever.  I used to rock her for what felt like an eternity and sing this song over and over.

3.  One Call Away by Charlie Puth

I recently posted on Facebook about this song and how I want to play it for Ava when she moves out (you know, when she’s like 35 and getting married).  I cannot listen to it enough.  This is one of those, crank it up and sing with Ava in the car kinds of songs.

2.  Climb Every Mountain by the awesome old lady nun in the Sound of Music & Jordan Smith’s version

First of all, who doesn’t want an awesome old lady nun to guide you through life?  I mean, I do.  That lady is legit badass.  She puts Maria in her place, forces her into uncomfortable situations and helps her through a journey of self-discovery.  I love her.  Last night on The Voice, Jordan Smith KILLED it with his version of this song.

1.  I Won’t Let Go by Rascal Flatts

Ava and I used to dance to this in the kitchen when she was about 5.  I would cry.  The lyrics are so powerful for me as a mama.  I love when he sings, “I will stand by you, I will help you thorough…I will hold you tight and I won’t let go.”

So there you have it!  My Top 5 Songs for Ava.  If you’re a parent who has a special song for your child, I would love to know!  Share in the comments!

Tuesday Top 5: The Top 5 Reasons I Love My Brides

Welcome to the first  Tuesday Top 5 (which is actually being published on a Friday).  Inspired largely by my love for the movie High Fidelity, Tuesday Top 5 will highlight lists of random things I love (or hate).  What better way to kick of Tuesday Top 5 than with a post about the babes I love the most…MY BRIDES!?

The Top 5 Reasons I Love My Brides:

5.  They are more Audrey than Marilyn.

My brides are so classy and timelessly beautiful.  They are the kind of girls you call pretty, beautiful or gorgeous.  They most often don’t even know how pretty they are (which makes my job even more fun!).  They adore their grooms.  They are modest and sweet.  And I love them all.

4.  They trust me.

For example, when I told Melanie that it would be a great idea to take her wedding day portraits on the side of the road because, “The light is amazing, I promise!” she didn’t question it at all.  …and the results were stunning!

3.  They write thank you notes.

And I keep every. single. one.  Handwritten notes are one of favorite things ever.  I find it to be an honor to know that, in a crazy, busy technological world, someone would take the time to sit down and write a thank you card.  It makes me feel very special.  I love writing them too!  I pride myself on my thank you card collection.

2.  They love their pets as if they are children.

You guys…I text my brides earlier this week at 9:00 at night asking for pet selfies…24 hours later my phone and email were flooded with images.  I love these girls SO much!  I talk to my dogs like they are people and speak on their behalf as well, so it make sense that my brides are the same kind of crazy animals lovers.

And finally….

1. They are the kindest human beings around.

All of my brides hold a special place in my heart.  They are the sweetest, most genuine and joyful girls around and I love them.  Throughout the wedding process, (or sometimes instantly) they become my friends.  They regularly ask about Ava, text me on my birthday, share their excitement with me when they get pregnant and we follow each other on social media.  They go above and beyond to show their love to me and my family.  For example, Taylor and her mom bought me a cookie to take home to Ava after our initial meeting and then text me wishing my family happy thoughts as my dog went in for surgery.   Elizabeth, at the beginning of last school year, made me a back to school kit with all kinds of goodies and a Pepsi!  When Ava had a Flat Stanley project, Bria (who had just moved to San Francisco, home of Ava’s favorite baseball team) took her paper doll all over the place, including AT&T Park, then sent her back with a photo album, souvenirs and a shirt!  Kathryn has modeled for me several times when I have had random ideas for styled shoots because she believes in what I do.  Dana sends me “Let’s be honest” messages regularly when she tells me that she loves what I am doing and who I have become as an artist.  These are just a few examples of the epic kindness and love that my brides radiate.  Each bride I have worked with has blessed my life in their own way.  These women mean so much to me and I will be forever grateful for these friendships.

I’ll end with a quote that reminds me of my brides…

Jenifer + Jason: Reflections at the Buttes Wedding

Jenifer and Jason met as teachers.  Miss Henson and Mr. Campos.  She taught 3rd grade and he taught PE.  After several attempts to catch her eye, he finally convinced Jen to go out with him.  They spent their first date at Winterhaven.  Soon after, they began travelling together.  Vegas, California, Montana.  They played soccer together, went hiking together and soon fell in love together.  Four years after their first date, they returned to Winterhaven together where Jason popped the question that would eventually turn Miss Henson into Mrs. Campos.

Jenifer and Jason celebrated their beautiful wedding at Reflections at the Buttes in Oro Valley and I am so excited to share it with you!!

Wildcats for life!  Even as they declared their love for one another, Jen promised to cheer on all of Jason’s team, including the University of Arizona.

Jen and Jason, thank you for sharing your love story with me!  I wish you all the best!

Laura + Justin: El Conquistador Wedding

I am so excited to share Laura and Justin’s beautiful winter wedding.  They tied the knot at El Conquistador in Oro Valley.  Laura and Justin’s wedding had so many personal touches.  I love details and I especially love when they have a special meaning.  Handwritten vows, personalized flasks, handkerchiefs with words of love…they all make my heart melt, but Laura’s incorporation of her grandfather’s picture on her bouquet was my absolute favorite.  My favorite image from their day is of her grandmother holding the bouquet.  Her beautiful hands wrapped around the colorful flowers that adorned the image of her late husband will always be a reminder to Justin and Laura that true love never ends.
